Workshops & Presenters
Educating the Heart
Our best instrument in the counselling session is our heartful Self. For two hours we will use simple, experiential Hakomi exercises designed to deepen our understanding of this superb instrument. We are not healers, but when we cultivate our personhood, we support the creation of a setting in which healing can happen.
About Angela Davis
Angela Davis is a Registered Clinical Counsellor who works both as a sessional counsellor at Thompson Rivers University and in her private practice in community. She has been a Hakomi trainer with the Vancouver Hakomi Education Network since 2015, and a Right Use of Power teacher since 2020. When she isn’t in the office, she may be found at her sewing machine, out in the garden, or learning her St’at’imc language.
The Limerick Framework for Action: Building on the Okanagan Charter to Guide Health Promoting Campuses
Join Dr. Matt Dolf for an overview of the Limerick Framework for Action—the latest international guidance document building on the landmark 2015 Okanagan Charter. Developed through 18 months of collaboration among international health promotion, sustainability, and equity leaders and unveiled at the 2025 International Health Promoting Campuses conference in Limerick, Ireland, this framework provides practical guidance for implementing campus health promotion and wellbeing. Matt was a member of the development team and will share his insights on the framework’s key elements, guiding principles, and actions we can all take to build healthier campus communities.
About Dr. Matt Dolf
Providing strategic support for health and wellbeing promotion at UBC, Matt takes a systems-wide approach to facilitate UBC Wellbeing—a collaborative effort to make the University a better place to live, work, play, and learn. Matt holds a Masters from EPFL in Switzerland and a PhD from UBC, and has focused most of his career on the intersection of health promotion, sustainability, and higher education. He was a key contributor to both the Okanagan Charter and the Limerick Framework for Action, and is a founding member of both the Canadian and International Health Promoting Campus Networks, serving as past chair of the Canadian network and current chair of the International network.
*Law x Counselling: Safe, Sound, and Subpoena-Ready: Documenting with Care
This workshop will help you protect yourself and your therapeutic relationships while navigating the complexities of clinical documentation and legal requests. Topics include: best practices for note-taking to safeguard your practice; examples of professional notes and how to write them effectively; handling requests for clinical records and letters from lawyers or third parties; supporting clients involved in legal proceedings; understanding confidentiality and its limits; considerations for the best interest of the child; and what to do when you receive a subpoena to testify.
*This is a hybrid presentation. Full-conference attendees will gather in person while online-only participants will join via Zoom.
